About the Cunningham Haunt House
The Cunningham Haunt House began as a simple idea in 2011: bring the spirit of Halloween to life for the local community. What started as a small yard display has since grown into a 3,200 square-foot, full-blown haunted attraction, crafted by the Cunningham family with care, passion, and plenty of spine-chilling surprises.
Inspired by a visit to Wizard Quest in Wisconsin Dells, Darrell Cunningham embarked on a journey of creativity, building his first props—a witches’ book and a cemetery archway—with the help of his father, James. Each year, the haunt grew bigger and more elaborate, adding homemade animatronics, detailed themes, and even a haunted maze that keeps thousands of visitors coming back.
The Cunningham Haunt House is truly a family affair. Darrell’s father, James Cunningham, is the mastermind behind much of the engineering, while his mother, Wanda Cunningham, helps with planning and decorating. Darrell’s wife, Shelly, brings fresh ideas and a creative touch, while his brother, Jamie, has built large displays, including the popular alien-themed room. What started as a fun family project has now become a beloved tradition for the entire community.
We aim to bring thrills, foster a sense of community, and create a safe space for families on Halloween night. With over 3,000 visitors each year, the haunt house has become a local sensation, combining eerie suspense with fun jump-scares for both kids and adults. The highlight? A giant pirate ship built into an old backyard tree that has made our Pirates Cove theme a fan favorite.

our Mission
At the heart of the Cunningham Haunt House is a love for Halloween and a commitment to giving back to our community. We provide a thrilling, yet safe, Halloween experience for families, trick-or-treaters, and thrill-seekers alike—completely free of charge. While donations are welcome, our main reward comes from the screams echoing through the haunt and the heartfelt gratitude of our visitors.
As Darrell Cunningham puts it, “The screams and the thanks from our community make every bit of effort worth it.”
